Fabric Lampshade Cover | The Southern Table – Episode 178
Give a thrifted lampshade an all new look with this no-sew DIY! Erin and Kelli show us how easy it is to transform any lampshade into a high end designer piece with just a few supplies.
List of Supplies:
- Lampshade (thrift to save money)
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- 1 yard of Fabric (craft store)
How to:
- Cut fabric into two inch wide stripes, and the length of fabric should be at least two inches longer than lamp shade.
- Place fabric pattern side down and fold fabric in half adding glue to the raw edges of the fabric to create a smooth edge.
- Next add glue to the top inside of lamp shade and attach strip. Be sure to pull tightly to bottom of shade and add glue on bottom of shade.
- The next strip should overlap the previous strip, covering the raw edge. (Pleats should be closer together at the top of the lampshade and wider apart at the bottom to account for the slant in the shade.
- Depending on your fabric pattern, you may also want to alternate the patterns as you layer the strips, to create variation in the pattern.
- Cut off excess fabric as needed and enjoy your new custom lampshade.
